You may have noticed that the Tuesday Evening Farmer's Market got started this week. I'd like to thank everyone for adapting so smoothly to the new CSA pickup arrangement. We weren't sure what to expect from the market going into week one, and I've got to be honest, I'm not really sure what to expect from here on out. It is the shortest market I've ever heard of, running a mere hour and a half, and it ended right about when we started to hit our rhythm. Hopefully in weeks to come, I'll have more of a chance to chat with you all about how the previous week's share treated you.
Things are starting to pick up speed here at the farm and this week's share showed it. Lot's of new items in there. Your box included:
Salad Mix
Beets
Napa Cabbage
Zucchini or Yellow Squash
Cucumber
Peas
Broccoli
Basil
Autumn has the perfect recipe to make short work of your Napa cabbage with a Chicken Ramen Salad. It's a great cool dinner on these 90 degree days we've been having.
This week, the zucchini are a bit oddly shaped. This is standard for the first flush of the season. The strange shapes result from uneven pollination as the early flowers and pollinating insects battle more cold and wet than later in the season. It's no good if you're saving seed, but just fine for eating. Enjoy!
